This policy explains what information is collected when you visit iswain.dev or submit a form, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information.

Who I Am

Ian Swain, a freelance software developer operating as iswain.dev, based in the United States. Contact: contact@iswain.dev

What Data Is Collected

This site collects only the following:

Contact form submissions — name, email address, and any message you type into the contact or project intake forms. This data is transmitted to and stored by Formspree (formspree.io) on my behalf.
Analytics — iswain.dev uses GoatCounter, a privacy-respecting analytics service. GoatCounter does not set cookies, does not track individuals across sites, and does not collect personal data. It records page views, referrer, and browser type in aggregate only. See GoatCounter's privacy policy.
Server logs — Basic server logs such as IP address and request metadata may be collected by the hosting provider (GitHub Pages) for security and operational purposes. I do not have direct access to or control over these logs.

This site does not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, advertising trackers, or any other third-party tracking software.

How Information Is Used

Information you submit through forms is used solely to:

Respond to your inquiry or project request
Provide you with a quote or proposal
Communicate about a project in progress

Your information is never sold, shared with third parties for marketing purposes, or used for advertising.

The legal basis for processing this information is legitimate interest in responding to your inquiry and carrying out a potential or existing project engagement.

Cookies

iswain.dev does not set any cookies. Google Fonts are loaded from Google's CDN. Your browser sends a request to Google's servers when loading these fonts, which could include your IP address. This is beyond my direct control. You can block Google Fonts by using a browser extension or ad blocker if this is a concern.

Data Retention

Form submission data is retained in Formspree for up to 30 days, after which it may be deleted. If you request deletion of your data, email contact@iswain.dev and I will remove it promptly.

Third-Party Services

Formspree (formspree.io) — processes contact form submissions. See their privacy policy.
GoatCounter (goatcounter.com) — privacy-respecting page view analytics. No personal data collected.
Google Fonts — fonts loaded from fonts.googleapis.com. Your browser sends a request to Google's servers, which may include your IP address. See Google's privacy policy.
GitHub Pages — this site is hosted on GitHub Pages. GitHub may collect IP addresses and server logs per their privacy policy.

Data Security

Reasonable technical and organizational measures are taken to protect any information you submit. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and I cannot guarantee absolute security.

Age Requirement

This site is not directed at children under the age of 13. I do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information through this site, please contact me at contact@iswain.dev and I will delete it promptly.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

Request a copy of any personal data I hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate information
Request deletion of your data

Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
